Summary

Background Rugby7Girls is a project initiated by a consortium made of 4 countries from different bodies active in the field of sport (a school of coaches and a rugby club in Romania are the initiators of this project) that want to change the perception of women’s rugby in Europe. The main problem identified by the members of our consortium is the lack of skills of coaches in the women’s rugby sector. Rugby in Romania and the world over is male-dominated and controlled. Objectives To produce educational materials for the training of coaches in the domain of women’s rugby. To develop the skills and competences of the members of the consortium and about 100 local coaches/high school sport teachers that were trained in the methods of coaching in women’s rugby during the entire period of the project. To promote women's rugby at population level and in schools/high-schools for the improvement of the recruitment process of girls Implementation The project had 9 activities, each with different content: Project Management and coordination, RUGBY7GIRLS ROUND TABLE in Romania, Small-scale on-line survey, Application of the training methodology to 30 coaches/sport teachers, Development of joint initiatives, Evaluation, Monitoring, Dissemination and Exploitation of results. The partners were involved in everything, but each partner coordinated one or more activities, depending on their experiences and skills.
