Social Sport, Inclusive Community
▶Summary
Background SSIC is a Sport Erasmus+ project including 4 countries to foster the sense of an inclusive European society through the importance of practicing and disseminating sport by strengthening a EU where disadvantaged people do not feel and are not excluded. The project focused on the importance of the role of young people and innovative tools such as podcast and instagram to increase the involvement of disadvantaged categories in sport activities. Objectives The project aimed at raising awareness on social inclusion through sport and the active involvement of young people in local and digital activities to support the promotion of inclusiveness, healthy lifestyle, solidarity and breaking stereotypes. At the same time, it wanted to create a strong network of associations, young people and stakeholders with the aim of using sport as an open community in which to feel safe, spread potential, get knowledge and be just who they are. Implementation SSIC included transnational meetings, local events and digital activities by including staff members and activating local young people as “motivators”. Transnational meetings aimed at organizing and monitoring the ongoing project and included mainly staff members. A training for motivators was organized in Croatia. The teams organized local activities to promote social inclusion and equality through sport. Podcasts and an Instagram Page were made by “positive influencers”. Achievements The main work streams dedicated to local actions were related to the promotion of sports culture and raising awareness about the importance of being physically active, dissemination of good practices through digital channels (social media, podcasts). Motivators promoted sport as an important aspect for being healthy and social inclusion reaching more than 200 people. The individuals were more open to a EU view and identity. The specific values of the project respects totally the ones of the EU
