Summary

Background Sport4HealthNet project unites professionals from Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Belgium and The Netherlands in an effort to encourage participation in sport and physical activity among the working population with the goal of lowering health risk factors for lifestyle diseases. The programme of exercises, specifically designed for people who spend most of their working hours behind a desk, tackles the usual problems such as lack of time, resources or space to be active. Objectives The main objective of the project aims at creating better access and more opportunities in people’s everyday lives to engage in exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Specific objectives were: evaluation of employees' health profiles, developing user-friendly manual for physical activity at the workplace and e-learning module, and the study of sports and leisure facilities, dissemination of the project results using social media, project website and mobile application and relevant events. Implementation Project consortium organized 4 TMs: 1 at the University of Novi Sad and 3 online; organized 4 MSEs in 4 countries – 3 (Slovenia, Serbia, and Bulgaria) and 1 online (Belgium) and created 3 intellectual outputs. The activities successfully implemented are: Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the community, website and mobile app, Employee physical health evaluation, guidelines, e-learning module, study of sports and leisure facilities, dissemination, evaluation, management of the project. Achievements The Sport4HealthNet project results are reports, website, mobile app, online guidelines “Stretching and Strengthening at Work”, SPORT4H e-learning module, two scientific articles published in high impact scientific journals, GIS mapping of sports and leisure facilities in 6 European cities. In addition, our team established Sport4H offices for promotion and interactive communication with the working population and scientific research.
