Staying safe in Taekwondo

Background The project aims to additionally educate coaches and referees on taekwondo injury prevention methods and to deliver extensive and high-quality taekwondo prevention programs/methodology which consider both: the application of knowledge and skills and high cooperation between coaches, referees and sport medical experts. Objectives The general objective is to protect taekwondo athletes, especially the youngest, from health and safety hazards by improving training and competition conditions.The specific objectives are: strengthening of the capacity of Taekwondo trainers/coaches for developing and implementing enhanced training methodology and strengthening of the capacity of Taekwondo referees about the importance of safe trainings for children, keeping exposures and the risk of a hazard as low as possible. Implementation During the project we have organize a 3-day Educational workshops in Romania, Slovenia and Croatia - The workshops consisted of theoretical and practical parts. During the theorethical part, various training methodology was presented and additional education for referees was organized.In the practical part the experts educated participants (coaches/trainers and referees from partners countries) on different protective tehniques they can implement while working with young athletes. Achievements Training Booklet was prepared by the Applicant based on the educational training materials developed, equipped with photos from Educational workshops. The focus is on the measures and recommendations aimed at improving training and competition conditions by using proper training methodology in order to prevent injuries and protect health of taekwondo athletes.
