▶Summary
Background There’s a lack of alternative, innovative and participative methods for the development of social, personal and educational competences in children. A significative part of the local schoolchildren of the consortium feels very discouraged on learning by the methods advocated by the formal education systems, focusing only on the traditional approach of knowledge transmission and following a pre-defined curriculum, a fact that can bring enormous negative consequences. Objectives - Promote social inclusion and equal opportunities through sports practice;- Contribute to the increase of equal opportunities in society and to the reduction of social exclusion;- Develop and/or reinforce collaborative networks between organisations active in the field of children and youth non-formal education, sports, and public policy;- Support mobilities;- Raise children’s and society’s awareness. Implementation - Sports sessions for the development of competences in children and local awareness-raising event;- Local awareness-raising events on the importance and added value of combining non-formal, formal and/or informal education methods with sport practice (involving families and the community);- Networking sessions between organizations and stakeholders relevant to the project's field of activity;- Local dissemination events;- Transnational Meetings. Achievements - Children, youth, families, organizations, and communities more aware of the role of sport in full education and the development of key competences;- E-book on the modus operandi of the project, with a model presentation of best practices to be followed in the field of the development of competences in children by combining sports practice with non-formal and/or informal education methodologies;- News, photos and videos produced throughout all phases of the project.
