Background Sport sector is able to mobilize more volunteers than any other sector. Volunteers are fundamental to the success of international and domestic sport events. Sport event organizers rely on the knowledge, skills and experiences of volunteers to run events. The scale of volunteer involvement in sports events is significant, creating the potential for a wide range of economic, social, cultural and community benefits. However volunteers are lacking education in organization of sport events. Objectives The goal of this project was to educate volunteers in the service of organization of national and international sporting events. With this project, we wanted to encourage volunteers to further actively engage not only in sporting events, but also in sports clubs and sports organizations, as they increase their competences, develop skills, and open up opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and self-employment. The goal was to educate a minimum of 240 volunteers in partner countries. Implementation There were different activities implemented throughout the project lifetime. Along with the 6 Transnational project meetings, there were also 6 MSEs held in partner countries where volunteers were educated on organization of sport events. Volunteers participated in organization of sport events in their own countries before participating in the Final event; volunteering in a large international sport event in Croatia and participating in the Final Conference on volunteering in sport. Achievements All of the necessary objectives were met during project implementation phase and the project has received visibility across Europe. 245 volunteers were educated throughout the project, they volunteered in more than 25 local/national and international sport events.Project was disseminated among more than 1,6 M people across Europe. The project added value, benefit and innovative aspects were very wide and are explained in details in the good practice section of the current final report.
