Summary

Background The project “European Dimension in Sport and Physical Activity with Young People” (EDSPAA) aimed to include European traditional sports and games (ETSG) as a means of building physical culture, social inclusion, and development of values in adolescents as European citizens. The EDSPAA project was implemented in partnership with a sports club from Bulgaria, secondary schools from Portugal and Latvia, and a sport NGO from Slovenia. Objectives The main objective was creating a cross-border partnership between various sports organizations and physical education of adolescents. An online space for sharing and promoting ETSG activities and results was designed. A practical guidance was written to assist trainers and coaches as well as various events were conducted to promote and encourage new approaches of active involvement. Attended European Week of Sport where the project countries presented their traditional sports and games. Implementation The implementation of the project objectives and activities with the participating partner organizations and target groups were conducted as holding a kickoff meeting. Two online conferences led, discussing, and promoting the project and developed products. Collected information about the European traditional sports and games with adolescent which helped produce a survey, handbook, and booklet. Organized two international events as well as the precise spread of the project activities. Achievements January 2020 placed the start of the project with the Sport Info Day and Project Coordinators Meeting in Brussels, Belgium. By May 2020, the initial report on ETSG was completed and in August 2020 the Kickoff meeting was held. In November 2020, a project online conference was conducted. Following events in 2021 were Online Erasmus+ Sport Info Day and project activities spread. From May until December of 2021 one more online conference was held, two summer events and round-table discussions.
