Scoring for Health2020
▶Summary
Background The Scoring for Health programme encouraged children from the ages of 7 to 13, and their parents, to adopt a healthy lifestyle and make them aware of the value of eating healthily and being active. There are 4 overarching factors which contribute to the problem, these being:•Poor eating habits•A decrease in physical activities for children•Increase in sedentary behaviours•Lack of adequate physical environment or secure spaces to play Objectives The main objectives of the programme were: •To encourage awareness of healthy lifestyles among the children and their parents.•To allow participants to experience that sport and exercise are healthy and enjoyable.•To increase of physical activity among children (25% more meets HEPA Guidelines standards)•To promote healthy dietary behaviours based on the Guidelines for healthy nutrition.•To improve children’s physical fitness. Implementation This programme was running for 3 years, where 3 periods of 20 weeks of various activities were delivered by the participating football clubs with local schools and health organisations. Each cycle of the programme started and finished with a sport event at the respective stadiums or elite academies. However, due to the success of the project, multiple partners have continued the project after the project funding of the EU ended. Due to our M&E process, we have proven outcomes that the young participants eath healthier and excersise more.
