Background It’s inevitable that we have to do something about climate change. Not only reduce, reuse and recycle, but we can actively contribute to protect our planet and take direct action. Environmental pollution is an enormous problem and the lack of recycling is an even bigger challenge. Therefore, our ambition when starting this project was to find ways how grassroots sport can become an active change-maker and contributor to protecting our natural environment. Objectives Project aims to promote sport and physical activities that not only contribute to better health, but also have a positive impact on the environment.Objectives of the project are: ● to promote and develop new methods of environmental education through sport,● to increase the number of organized eco-friendly sport events,● to generate public awareness about possible connection of sport and protection of environment,● to improve knowledge and experience of sport clubs about eco-friendly sport. Implementation Our motivation has been turned into many activities and events to achieve our ambitious aim and objectives: research on good practices; development of new methods and activities involving environmental education through sport;publication for trainers about Eco-Friendly Sports; 48 local eco-friendly sport events; meetings and conferences; videos and podcasts production; raising awareness campaign on social media.The project has been implemented in the period 01/01/2020–31/03/2022.
