โ–ถSummary

Background The phenomenon of doping in sport is a serious public health issue that poses threats to both sport and society as a whole. Doping is not restricted to a small number of elite performers and there are concerns that more and more young people in recreational and grassroots sport are using substances and other techniques prohibited under the World Anti-Doping Code. Objectives The general aim of the I RUN CLEAN project is to strengthen European Athleticsโ€™ I RUN CLEAN anti-doping education programme with new interventions in multiple languages to prepare grassroots athletes and those who support them to deal with the issue of doping and make decisions that protect their well-being and the integrity of the sport. Implementation The consortium developed anti-doping e-learning modules to complement the existing module for athletes and anti-doping workshops for settings such as schools, sport clubs, training camps and competitions. The team also developed a process, contents and a process handbook to prepare volunteer ambassadors to deliver the anti-doping workshops, tested and evaluated the impact of the two interventions (workshops and e-learning) Achievements 50 young ambassadors recruited from the 6 partner countries to deliver the workshops and assist with the promotion and dissemination of the project. More than 700 people participated in the workshops. E-learning modules designed for coaches/athlete support personnel were created. The ambassador training handbook and the impact report are published.
