โ–ถSummary

Background We wanted to implement this project so as to break the stereotypes about women in sport and promote better social inclusion of women as well as to promote the European sport events, campaigns and programmes such as Move Week, European Week of Sport and European Fitness Day. It was highly important to involve Egypt as a partner country so as to see the situation of women involvement in sport in a country where women's rights and gender equality are often questionable. Objectives The project main objectives were to:-explore the situation of women involvement in sports in the partnering countries and present it in a common file;-encourage the social inclusion of women through sport events; -promote the European sport campaigns Move Week, European Sport Week and European Fitness Day in all partnering countries;-share best practices about women involvement in sport from the partnering organisations;-to strengthen the project partnership and plan common future projects; Implementation We have implemented all envisaged transnational project meetings and sport events for Move Week and European Week of Sport 2021 in all project countries regardless of the difficult situation with COVID-19. This was due to the reliable partnership we have further strengthened through this project. The project had a huge local, national and international impact as each partner did their best to promote the project and the funding programme. We used project promotional T-shirts and banners. Achievements Under the project we:-carried out national surveys about women involvement in sport in the project countries compiling a resource material with the findings-had 4 transnational partnership meetings in Egypt, Poland, Bulgaria and Cyprus;-organised sport events involving girls and women for Move Week 2021 and European Week of Sport 2021;- organised a final seminar "Stereotypes about women in sport" -developed and promoted the project website: https://sites.google.com/view/starsofwomenproject/
