โ–ถSummary

Background Our goals were oriented towards social inclusion through regular physical activity and practicing mindfulness. Target groups were adults with physical or mental disabilities especially those with fewer opportunities. We combined swimming training with mindfulness practice. Our innovation includes mindfulness in sport training as a good way of enhancing learning experience and preparing a field from which people learn about themselves. Objectives Promotion of social inclusion through sport and gaining new knowledge on how to teach and how to promote good practices, how to influence the local environment, the national programmes for promoting an active lifestyle and to develop knowledge of promotion for different sports organizations. We developed a toolkit with guidelines that can be easily implemented in other organizations where they want to work in the swimming sports fields and want to develop and incorporate mindfulness practice. Implementation We exchanged good practices on teaching swimming and mindfulness to different groups, promoting physical activity and social inclusion through workshops, addresing the needs of instructors, developing and sharing the knowledge (Manual, web page, social media). We organized 5 TPMโ€™s, 1 multiplier sport event for each partner, 1 local dissemination event seminar, 4 open house days, 24 weeks of training for pilot groups and we presented the project products to local policymakers. Achievements Swim to Live Manual (digital version) and webinars.Swim to Live Teaching Licence. An international collection of knowledge in the form of www.swimtolive.org and various social media.Promotional videos.
