Tennis Clubs for Dual Careers

Background Talented athletes should have a balanced and healthy sporting career and good follow-up after their active sporting career so that no talent is lost and investment wasted. Moreover, a well-balanced dual career can help maximize the contribution of athletes to society, building on the capabilities athletes have developed during their careers, and can be seen as good preparation for becoming potential role models in society Objectives TC4DC general objective is to develop skills in and through sport and support the implementation of the EU Guidelines on Dual Careers of Athletes by setting up a transnational network of stakeholders in tennis and education, to elaborate an innovative Tennis Clubs for Dual Career (TC4DC) program and to pilot it amongst 25 EU tennis club in the partner countries. The project targets talented grassroots tennis athletes (players) at the age of 17 and onwards, as well as talented coaches. Implementation The implementation of the project idea went through seven work packages from the 1st of January 2021 to the 31st of December 2022. The activities included transnational project meetings, elaboration of an education and training program, digital platform and case studies compendium and multiplier sport events. Achievements - Integrated Survey and Report on good practices in DC of athletes and coaches based on club educational and training programs in EU with special focus on education for sport management in tennis and other sports.- TC4DC educational program with 3 training courses: “Training in sport tactics and physical condition of athletes” in sport clubs for coaches and players “Management of small and medium sized sport clubs” and “Dual Career counselling for life after sport . - Case studies compendium.
