Promote physical activity and sport using the public space - Urban Sports 4all
▶Summary
Urban Sports 4all aims to increase the population’s sports practice rates in Lisbon through urban sports, promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities through sport, targeting the present European policies. To achieve these objectives, we propose organizing and implementing a main event with 9 sport modalities in the public space, through with integration of competition modalities in adapted sport (Wheelchair Basketball), modalities for male, female and mixed participation, promotion of sports to senior population (Walking Football) and integration of teams from different countries. We also propose holding a Conference, where invited countries can share their good practices. All participants can be part of the choice of the best practices to improve the conditions to do sports in a new idea of the city and with integration of the urban context. It will promote interchange between cultures, through the exchange of experiences between all the countries involved, using sport as a vehicle for social and sports development. The project will increase awareness of main stakeholders about the new paradigm of urban city which allows the inclusion of social, economic and tourist dimensions of public space’s use, proving that the city in its urbanity can create conditions for sports development. We also intend to contribute to future sustainable projects in the Municipality at local, regional, national and international levels, considering an interconnection between social, environmental and economic dimensions, disseminating urban sport at renovated green spaces in the city, accessible to all community, increasing the index of sports activity in the municipality. As a result from the project, there will be enhanced networks of all participating countries, exchanging good practices and taking some new tools for their countries, such as a Book of Good Practices.
