Background The overall objective of this project is to encourage participation in recreational physical activity for seniors (persons age 65+) in project partner countries by developing new recreational sport programmes suited for 3 types of most common health conditions (back pain, cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis) thereby supporting the implementation of the EU Physical Activity Guidelines. Objectives - Raising awareness on benefits of participation in recreational PA for seniors (65+) - Analysing current HEPA guidelines in project countries and developing Recommendations for implementing HEPA for seniors;- Strengthening the capacity of kinesiologists and trainers on new methodology for conducting recreational PA for seniors;- Strengthening the capacity of general practitioners on benefits of participation of seniors in recreational sport activities Implementation Project was implemented in 5 countries with participation of over 150 seniors, 50 trainers and 50 general practitioners. We have organized 5 TPMโ€™s and implemented all the activities in scope of the 6 proposed work packages. All main project outputs โ€“ Research on current HEPA for Seniors implementation in project countries, Educational Modules Manual, Piloting and Recommendations were delivered. Achievements -over 50 sport trainers and 50 general practitioners educated,-over 10 educated sport trainers per project country participated in Sport pilot program for seniors -organized Sport pilot programme for seniors in duration for 4 months for more than 150 seniors in 5 countries-developed Research on current HEPA for Seniors implementation in project countries, Educational Modules Manual and Recommendations-Raised awareness on benefits of participation in recreational PA for seniors (65+)
