Summary

Background Karate is a martial art characterised by self-defence and attacks by individuals using the extremities of the arms and legsThe dominant motor skills in karate sports are endurance, strength, coordination and flexibility, and because of the very nature of sport, injuries in karate sport are very common. The health protection of athletes includes measures for the protection and promotion of physical health and socialisation in relation to karate sports. Objectives Within the project, two capacity building activities (CBA) will be implemented, with the same content of lectures but each time by different coaches, and the final participation of karate athletes in the international karate tournament in Rijeka. The program will include 30 karate coaches.Through this form of training, coaches will:•increase the level of information (knowledge) about health and safety risks in order to protect the athletes Implementation KICK OFF MEETING: 20th of February 2021, held online MIDTERM MEETING: 3rd April 2022, Maribor SloveniaFINAL MEETING: 14th of May 2022, Rijeka, CroatiaCBA 1: 18th till 19th of September 2021., Sakarya, Turkey; CBA 2: 3rd till 4th of April 2022, Maribor SloveniaKarate Tournament: 14th till 15th of May 2022, Rijeka, Croatia Achievements After the end of the project, we are very satisfied with the results we achieved. We manage to have 3 face to face workshops for coaches and athletes, and one held online. Our coaches had improved their knowledge, experience, skills and attitudes. We made the EDUKA Guidelines Training format brochure, which is in a way a tool for future coaches and athletes and members of the club. It consist of lot of exercises and examples of good practice in the training approach.
