Background The project was focused on blind and visually impaired (B&VI) people who are often prevented from taking part fully in society due to ergonomic and attitudinal barriers. The project promoted their participation in sports as spectators of water polo (WP) games through the creation of the VIWAS Guide on how to broadcast water polo games to blind and visually impaired people. Lastly, the project promoted the sharing of knowledge and good practices. Objectives The project objectives were to:- encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport for people with disabilities, specifically for blind and visually impaired people.- promote an active lifestyle and wellbeing of blind and visually impaired people - raise awareness about the barriers that blind and visually impaired people face and how to overcome them- promote the exchange and circulation of good practices- achieve a more updated staff Implementation Through the realization of 5 Meetings and 3 workshops:-The literature review was conducted -The water polo training program for blind and visually impaired people (B&VI) was designed and performed -The VIWAS Guide was created-A theoretical training and a practical demonstration of the application of the Guide were realised-Each partner implemented the Guide with their B&VI participants during water polo games -1 Final Conference and 4 Local Dissemination events were realized Achievements After, the Literature Review and the Water Polo (WP) training program for the blind and visually (B&VI) people, the VIWAS Guide on how to broadcast WP to B&VI people was created. Partners were trained, attended and broadcasted WP games to their B&VI people, received their feedback and finalized the Guide which is freely available in 5 languages (EN, EL, IT, SL, CR) and is expected to have a long-term positive effect, helping B&VI people to participate in sports as players and as spectators.
