โถSummary
Background A growing number of sports organisations recognise the need to strengthen their integrity through better governance. Although the awareness of the need for change is increasing, good governance codes, as the research proved, are still not a common practice among sports federations or organizations due to the challenges that arise at many stages of their creation and implementation. Objectives The project aims at:1. Localizing and studying the existing Codes of Good Governance in Europe;2. Finding similarities and differences between the Codes;3. Guiding member states who do not have Codes of Good Governance in the implementation of such documents and helping those countries who have Codes of Good Governance in updating them. Implementation The project consortium has been a mix of governmental agencies responsible for sports, sport organizations, NGOs and universities. It has enabled the interdisciplinary research process. Thanks to the engagement of governmental agencies, it was possible to include the discovered good practices and principles in their policies. Eight public Multiplier Sport Events have been organized to ensure a structured dialogue and wide dissemination of the results. Achievements The extensive research process allowed to collect information about Codes of Good Governance in EU countries and their implementation. The evaluation reveals that there were only a few of them. The partners developed the European Convergent Code of Good Governance in Sport. The findings were published in the reports which were shared with the stakeholders and the public. Online platform was developed to share the knowledge on Governance in sport organizations with interactive content.
