Background “She Runs – Active Girls’ Lead” is a unique international sport and educational event promoting the girl’s wellbeing and leadership through school sport. The event message focus on the importance of participation and accessibility of young women to sport through school and how it contributes to develop leadership skills and empower themselves. Objectives - Promote participation of young women in sport- Support the development of young women’s skills in leadership and management in sport- Promote the use of school sport, through active participation and voluntary activities- Create and develop a solid network of European young women leaders in school sport- Mobilise city decision makers in developping (in a broad way) opportunities for girls and women to practice sport. Implementation Cultural: Participants joined a scavenger hunt combining elements from the history of the city, of sport, and of symbolic women.Sport: Schoolgirls participated in a 4km Run. Participants experienced over 10 different sport activities in a villageInnovation: 4 inspiring women leaders in sport shared their stories with participantsEntrepreneurship: Participants designed projects contributing to the physical activity of other girlsAdvocacy: organisation of a final international conference Achievements - over 2000 girls from over 15 countries including schoolgirls from Brussels were involved directly in the event.- Media coverage reached reach nearly 3 million people. (in total more than 20 newspapers)- She Runs TV & ISF social media reached 400.000 people directly- 700 hundred european and local Belgium girls joined the Cultural and Talk activity- 700.000 people reach during Brussels communication campaign- 15000 to 20000 were indirectly in contact with the flagship event (Run-Village)
