CArpet bowls foR everyonE / CARE

Background CARE – Carpet bowls for everyone! Addresses the topics in accordance with the EU decision on promotion of traditional European games and sports in combination with resolution Sport for all: a bridge to equality, integration and social inclusion, to increase the number of citizens who regularly engage in recreational activities, to encourage intergenerational cooperation between young and senior citizens. Objectives To bring opportunities for people of all ages to have fun and be active, enhance their quality of life and health thus help to avoid increase of health care expenses for individuals and national health care systems; to promote carpet bowls as a public health sport game that is attractive for everyone - wide population especially children and youngsters not only for seniors, thus promoting sustainable sport activities for all–grassroot sport; promote creation of links between generations, genders Implementation Within the project, meetings were held in Ķekava, Denmark, Turkey, Italy and again in Ķekava according to the project application. The Carpet Bowls handbook was developed in English and translated into the languages of the project partners: Latvian, Danish, Norwegian, Italian and Turkish. Three sets of carpet bowls were purchased according to the project application and Carpet Bouwls tournaments were organized in Denmark, Latvia, Turkey and Italy. Achievements Intellectual outputs-development of the carpet bowls player handbook with recommendations for the game and trainings. Introduction of traditional European games as Carpet Bowls, tournaments in Latvia, Turkey, Italy. Examples of good practice in Denmark. Development of projects home page. Project closing conference with participants from all Latvia, regions and partner organization representatives and other stakeholders. Reports, newsletters, articles on specialized press, press release.
