Summary

Background The project follows the Erasmus+ Small Cooperation Partnership priorities in combating environment and climate change by using extreme sports as a tool. Our project focuses on responding to the environmental pollution and waste material problem in Europe, showing the effect of nature sports on nature protection, raising awareness and actively participating in activities such as outdoor sports (Orienteering, Trekking, Cycling), waste materials and recycling activities from these materials. Objectives With the SpoNaFu project, we tried to achieve the following goals:- Gaining the habit of environmental education, nature sports, and waste collection in primary and high schools- Achieving the EU's targets for both a sedentary lifestyle and a sustainable environment- Taking hundreds of children from 5 different countries to nature and adopting an active lifestyle- Developing and protecting the quality of the environment together with children and young people Implementation A total of 4 transnational meetings were held within the scope of the project activities. Extreme sports education and recycling awareness seminars were held for primary and high school children in 5 countries. Through nature sports, the participants collected waste materials from nature and produced various products from these materials. The project finale was organized as an international nature and environment festival in Turkey. Achievements Facebook and Instagram pages were established in order to convey the project activities to large masses. A website was established, providing access to the content and resources produced in the project. A guide was created for all relevant public institutions to see the project activities, results and good practices applied in the countries. Participants gained awareness about environmental problems. Competence in environmentally responsible behavior has been established.
