Governance-Oriented Actions Levering on environment for Sustainability

Background GOALS addresses the good governance in sport topic, more precisely, it wants to improve good environmental governance in sport organizations. i.e. National Football Associations and grassroots in female and youth amateur clubs. Governance is a crucial leverage for steering football organizations towards environmental sustainability by strategically defining environmental improvement objectives and by allocating human and financial resources to achieve them. Objectives 1) Improve good governance in sport organisations by empowering the environmental organizational governance of the football organizations through training activities and online tools; 2) Promote voluntary activities in sport linked to environmental protection and the key role played by sport and sport events in protecting the environment, together with social inclusion and equal opportunities; 3) Improve good practices in addressing environmental issues and the adverse environmental impacts. Implementation I1: Developing an online tool for football clubs to calculate their environmental footprint and monitor improvements;I2: Producing educational training modules for players, staff,managers and coaches of football clubs based on a non-formal education approach;I3: Elaborating awareness raising events promoting sustainable solutions and attitudes of sportspeople, spectators and staff; I4: Adopting organisational and operational sustainable practices among football organisations. Achievements R1: Promotion and use of the Environmental Footprint Calculator;R2: Incorporation of green skills and commitment amount sports people, through the creation and sharing of the educational and training modules;R3: Enhancing the sense of community by working under the same goal and connecting and strengthening different staff members in having to monitor environmental factors;R4: Decrease of the environmental footprint of sport organisations thourgh the adoption of sustainable best practices.
