United through Urban Movement – Skills development and Volunteer mobility

'United through Urban Movement (UUM) - Skills development and Volunteer mobility' The name of the project encompasses and promotes the idea of social inclusion and integration through the word “united” and aims at the idea that physical activity unites us all. “Urban movement” is related to urban sports but movement is broader and accessible, it is something we do everyday. The word “movement” also represents social movement and mobility for participants, staff, volunteers and also individuals in the society as a whole. “Through” aims at showing that it is through sport we can reach mobility, strengthen social inclusion and spread the word about the benefits of volunteerism (the idea of education through sport). The project partnership was built up on 5 organisations – from Hungary, Malta, Portugal and the UK. Main aims of UUM: - Foster soft skill development in/through urban sports, - Promote social inclusion and sport-based education for youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. - Provide relevant volunteer work experience for disadvantaged youth through involving them in the organisation of a small-scale, urban sport based event, - Promote the selected urban sports as “accessible for all” and fun ways of doing physical activity/sport, - To raise awareness of the benefits of movement/physical activity, physiological and social, including the positive impact it can have on mental well-being as well, - Prepare and share an editable, online database with “good practices” and the approach, which were used to realize the small-scale urban sport festival , - Create an online video channel portraying the basics of each selected urban sport, - Promote European Union values. During the 18 months long project the main mobilities are the following: - An International Urban Sports Camp - A (soft skill development) training for the Volunteer Ambassadors of UUM - A small-scale Urban Sport Festival which is the main dissemination event of UUM.
