Summary

Background The general aim of this project is to promote, develop and offering suitable participation opportunities by integrating refugee-background young people into mainstream clubs with the aim to directly support development of bridging social connections likely to be particularly critical for promoting inclusion. Objectives O1: To implement positive sport experiences by integrating refugee-background young people into mainstream clubs.O2: To support sport organisations to offer suitable participation opportunities for refugees with the help of innovative educational approaches. O3: To increase the knowledge and evidence-base of working with minor refugees.O4: To disseminate evidenced-based principles of good. O5: To bring the project findings to the attention of a wide audience. Implementation The OMC approach was broken down into two continuous, interactive workstreams: A) Research, and B) Validation. The processes within and the outputs of each stream was governed by a panel of experts in the field of sport and social inclusion. These experts not only provide academic rigour and scrutiny to the approach of OMC, they also act as a sounding board and a dissemination channel who helped steer the project to success. Achievements -Improved sense of belonging (social development).-Improved self-efficacy and self-esteem (personal development).-Improved levels of education and employability.-Improved overall wellbeing. -Reduction in conflict situations.
