Coastal Rowing - Bringing All Generations Together
โถSummary
Background Open-water or coastal rowing is the relatively new type of rowing, kind of adventure side of this traditional sport. It involves rowing along a sea coast and/or out into the open sea and is still relatively underdeveloped in majority of countries, even those which are coastal oriented and have natural conditions and people with long maritime tradition. This project aims to promote education of clubs' coaches and sport managers with special focus on new skills development in coastal rowing. Objectives This project aims to bring together a number of club coaches and sport/managing directors from 4 clubs with the primary objective to teach them new - coastal rowing skills, which are different than those they already have. These skills, combined with their enthusiasm for this new type of rowing, will help them educate their club members and gain new ones (most of them coming from local schools, but also an adult population) that will train and learn coastal rowing in safe and attractive places. Implementation Project was implemented in 4 countries. During the project implementation, 4 TPMs have been organized (one in each partner country). We have implemented all the activities in scope of the following 4 packages: a) Project management b) Organization of FISA - licensed coach development programme and completion of theoretical and practical exams by coaches c) Implementation of Coastal Rowing Module and educational workshops in the clubs and d) Evaluation, dissemination and project visibility. Achievements The main project results were:1. Conducting research in each country regarding the coastal rowing statistics/data with respect to number of athletes, licensed coaches, equipment, regattas etc.2.
