Sport for All and the Environment
▶Summary
Background The aim of the SforAE Project was raising awareness of the benefits of implementing ecological behaviour in the field of sport for all. It was led by the RECAL Foundation (PL – Fundacja na rzecz Odzysku Opakowań Aluminiowych RECAL) and supported by the following sport organisations:1.Czech Republic (CZ) - Česká asociace Sport pro všechny, z. s. (CASPV)2.Latvija (LT): Latvijas Sporta federāciju padome (LSFP)3.Slovakia (SK) - Asociácia športu pre všetkých Slovenskej republiky (ASPV) Objectives The SforAE Project’s goals were:- to educate the society in the field of environmentally friendly sport activities in conjunction with the sustainable development,- to develop the cooperation between sport organisations,- to develop "Green Guide" containing information on how to organize green events to reduce the event's impact on the environment,- to collect and publish best practices in the area of ecological actions through sport. Implementation The SforAE Project’s implementation included:- 3 months of preparation with a kick-off meeting, development of "Green Guide".- 12 months of realisation main part including sharing the "Green Guide", 4 Project meetings combined with flagship events, cooperation with sport events’ organizers, monitoring of the SforAE Project realization, best practices collection, - 3 months for evaluation of the Project results: publication with best practices, summary meeting, dissemination. Achievements Results in promoting the „green thinking”:- Green Guidelines for sport events’ organizers interested in smaller impact on the environment.- 140 events with environmental activities in the field of: recycling, food wasting, transport, co-sharing, “green” orders, volunteering, energy, water, noise, air quality, carbon footprint and offset, certification, etc.- 4 flagship events by Project partners.- Best Practises brochure with 10 events selected from supported sport events and flagships.
