Girls = Boys Bike Europe
โถSummary
Since a few years, we have noticed that the number of women practicing a sport has been increasing (+ 5% between 2009 and 2015 in France). The place of women in sport and in society in general is increasingly taken into account. This key issue therefore moves societies toward gender equality. However, much remains to be done. Gender equality is not only a national issue: it is a European and international issue. This theme has prompted Belgian, Polish, Romanian and French mountain bike clubs to join forces to work on solutions.Project members will share best practices to promote equality in mountain biking, a traditionally male sport, through coaches. Coaches by their position are the linchpins of equality; they can improve the participation of young girls in sport, improve their self-confidence, their sports results by giving them support and training equivalent to that of boys.The main objectives of the project are therefore a reflection and an exchange of good practices on gender equality, targeting three areas of work:- Identify the main inequalities in partner clubs in order to be able to remedy them: on boards, on the track, behavior between young people as well as coach / young behavior.- Promote gender equality in mountain biking through training and specialization of young people, given by coaches; the role of the supervisory team in the participation of young girls.- Identify good practices in terms of equality so that they can be implemented; writing a compendium of good practices.We hope that this compendium will stimulate girls' participation in sport and help deconstruct the stereotypes which still nourrish inequality between genders.
