โถSummary
Background Mind, Body, Boost (MBB) is an evidence-based intervention aimed at improving the mental and physical wellbeing of students and equipping them with the tools to maintain positive wellbeing. The project enabled third level students to overcome and manage mental and physical health issues such as feelings of isolation, low levels of depression, anxiety and/or low levels of regular physical activity. Objectives 1. To encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport2. To establish a European collaboration with the aim of improving the mental and physical wellbeing of young people in a university setting 3. To increase participation levels of young people, particularly those that are inactive4. To enable young people to build social connections through the medium of physical activity Implementation The project consisted of five phases โ preparation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and dissemination. All partners contributed to the preparation and planning of each phase and the development of nine intellectual outputs to support the project. Details on all of the intellectual outputs can be found on our website www.mindbodyboost.eu and include Pedagogical Guidelines, Best Practice Handbook & Toolkit, Mobile application and Evaluation report on the impact of the interventions. Achievements MBB successfully encouraged equality and inclusion in sport. A total of 21 interventions took place across seven campuses in Europe. Our results found that MBB enhanced both the mental and physical wellbeing of third level students who participated in the programme, with 80% of participants reporting a positive change in health behaviors, over 90% of participants enjoying the programme and over 75% reporting that the programme has helped them building social connections.
