Summary

Background The increase of the elderly population show an important phenomenon as well as a challenge for the European Society; living longer does not mean living a healthier, more active and independent life, especially when those elderly people do not have the tools to be able to face the passing of time, actively and effectively.To practice Sport prevents the rising of degenerative diseases and contributes to the active aging and to a better quality of life. Objectives The objectives of the project were: - Develop tools and strategies to effectively sensitize elderly people to the benefits of sports. - Develop instruments and strategies to promote sport activities for elderly people in a domestic environment. - Develop tools and strategies to promote outdoor sports practices.- Develop tools and strategies to combine sport for the elderly and social tourism. - Develop the volunteering of seniors as promoters of motor activities among the elderly. Implementation The project implementation has been realized according the following Work Packages:WP1 – MANAGEMENTWP2 – IMPLEMENTATION - INTELLECTUAL OUTPUTSWP3– MONITORING - EVALUATIONWP4 – COMMUNICATION AND DISSEMINATIONWP5 – SUSTAINIBILITY ACTIONSPILOTING ACTIVITIESThe implementation of WP2 took place also thanks to the following activities:B1 - testing of the SActAge training module;B2 - testing of the activities described in the SActAge Manual. Achievements The project has seen creation of the following intellectual outputs:- SActAge Good Practices- SActAge Manual- SActAge Training moduleIn terms of learnings, the project results included:-for Coaches, sports instructors, educators – knowledges about sport and physical activity for elderly people; acquisition of tools and methodologies.-For Elderly people - greater awareness of the importance of sport and physical activity for old people; acquisition of sport methodologies.
