Life After Sports: Athletes as Investors, Mentors and Entrepreneurs

Background Elite athletes have an outstanding potential to become successful businessmen and women. Being a part of the entrepreneurship ecosystem is a career option for high-level athletes. They can use their skills, networks and profile to mentor, start or invest in their own business during or after their sporting career. The SPRINGBOARD project is an educational innovation-oriented entrepreneurship program which aims to fill a gap in offering a flexible dual-career training curriculum program. Objectives The project's overall objective is to support the implementation of the EU Guidelines Dual Careers of Athletes through the development of ''the Training Curriculum on Innovation Oriented Entrepreneurship Based on Blended Learning Approach''. Implementation Validation of Curriculum and Development of Massive Online Open Course (MOOC). The results are all found at the website designed for the project: https://portal.athletesnewcareer.com. The project included transnational meetings to discuss management, findings, implementations and follow-up, as laid out in the original plan found in the application for the project. Minor changes to the meeting calendar was necessary due to especially the special circumstances around the Covid-19 pandemic. Achievements The following tasks were completed by project partners:- Mapping and Collection of Data for Training Needs Analysis of Elite Athletes and production of the report "Life After Sports"- Development of a Training Curriculum on Innovation-Oriented Entrepreneurship Based on a Blended Learning Approach - Massive Online Open Course (MOOC); an e-learning course covering the ''Athletes as Investors'', ''Athletes as Business Mentors'', ''Athletes as Entrepreneurs"- Impact Assessment Report
